Founded in the summer of 2013 in Hegymagas, at the foot of St. George Hill, the Camerata Pelsonore, formerly the Balaton Chamber Orchestra, has cultivated a remarkably diverse repertoire spanning Baroque masterpieces and twentieth-century works. In this program, three violin concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach and Antonín Dvořák's Serenade for Strings trace a compelling musical journey from the formal perfection of the Baroque to the rich, passionate sound world of Romanticism.

The first half of the concert features three contrasting works by one of music history's greatest masters. The program opens with Bach's iconic Double Concerto in D minor, one of the best-loved works in the violin repertoire, celebrated for the captivating dialogue between its two soloists. Their musical rapport is assured: Kristóf Baráti and Karolina Kondorosi are husband and wife, perform together regularly, and have recorded Béla Bartók's 44 Duos for Two Violins. This is followed by the Violin Concerto in A minor, with its energetic rhythms, playful spirit, and clear melodic lines, before the intimate, almost weightless slow movement of the Concerto in E major offers a moment of quiet contemplation.

The second half features Dvořák's Serenade for Strings, one of the finest examples of the Romantic string orchestra repertoire, blending elegance with heartfelt passion. Composed in the spring of 1875 in just two weeks, the work reflects a particularly happy period in the composer's life. Dvořák had just enjoyed his first major concert successes and had been awarded a state scholarship for the first time. The music radiates joy, spontaneity, and natural warmth, its idyllic, peaceful character infused with the optimism that marked this period of his life. Each movement has its own distinctive personality: a gently swaying waltz, a playful scherzo, a passionate yet lyrical larghetto, and, after all the courtly elegance that has preceded it, something wholly unexpected—a lively folk dance inspired by the music of the villages of Dvořák's native Bohemia.

This concert offers dazzling virtuosity, the intimacy of chamber music, and the rich emotional sweep of the string orchestra, a true celebration for lovers of string music.

Immerse yourself in Bach's transparent elegance before surrendering to the Romantic warmth and lyrical beauty of Dvořák.
