Experience the brilliance of Francesco Finotti, the acclaimed Italian organist renowned across the international organ music scene. His career soared after winning the International Liszt Organ Competition in Budapest in 1978, and since then he has performed at prestigious organ festivals and in Europe’s most iconic concert halls and cathedrals. Known for his deep musical insight, virtuosity, and expressive tonal palette, Finotti brings the organ to life with elegance and passion. On the evening of Night of Organs, he will perform on the magnificent organ of St. Stephen’s Basilica in Budapest, creating a serene, candlelit atmosphere within the Basilica’s grand walls. The concert opens with the dazzling melodies of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Toccata, Adagio, and Fugue in C major, setting a brilliant and inspiring tone. Mozart’s radiant Andante in F major follows, originally composed for a mechanical clock organ; its clarity, balance, and refined elegance evoke a calm, contemplative musical moment. Next, Finotti brings to life selected pieces from Liszt’s Christmas Tree cycle: the simple, archaic charm of Psallite, the warm and joyful In dulci jubilo, and the solemn, majestic procession of Adeste fideles. The meditative tones of Evening Bells then lead the audience into a peaceful, reflective state. The evening concludes with César Franck’s III. Choral in A minor, his final masterpiece and one of the most significant Romantic works for organ. From darker, dramatic tones, the music gradually ascends to light, serenity, and transcendence, its rich harmonies and organ textures providing a majestic and unforgettable finale.
Join us for this magical candlelit concert and immerse yourself in a world of music, peace, and wonder!
