Katalin Szutrély graduated at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest in Choral conducting and music education. She’s got Doctor of Liberal Arts degree from choral conducting.

Between 2002-2007 she was lecturer of the Kodály Institute, Kecskemét. Apart from her theoretic works she has been always interested in singing: among others she studied with Vera Rózsa in London, Anna Reynolds in Bayreuth. Currently she is working with Éva Lax in Budapest.

Her singing repertoire ranges from Baroque to late Romantic works: she sings mainly oratorios (by Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn) and has a great interest in Lieder (by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Wolff). As opera singer her main roles include the following operas: Dido and Aeneas by Purcell (Dido - Liszt Academy of Music), Hercules by Handel (Iole - MUPA), Scylla et Glaucus by Leclair (Circé - MUPA), Hippolyte et Aricie by Rameau (Aricie - MUPA, Hungarian State Opera), Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart (La Contessa - MUPA), La Clemenza di Tito by Mozart (Vitellia - MUPA, Liszt Academy of Music).
