PIANO OPERETTA – “IMRE KÁLMÁN 145”
Inspired by the successful ZongOpera format, this concert offers a unique musical journey celebrating the 145th anniversary of Imre Kálmán, the ‘king of operetta.’ The evening blends popular operetta favorites with spectacular piano performances, transforming grand orchestral works into an intimate, lively experience — a true reflection of Hungarian culture. János Balázs, a Kossuth Prize recipient and skilled musician, will perform on the piano, expertly capturing the splendor of Austro-Hungarian ballrooms on
a single keyboard. The event also features renowned coloratura soprano Erika Miklósa and exceptional tenor István Horváth, whose voices and charisma bring beloved characters to life, embodying the prima donna and the bon vivant. Writer and poet János Lackfi enriches the event with witty narration and original poetry, revealing the deep emotions and humor at operetta’s heart. His storytelling adds a special touch, elevating this event from a concert to a sophisticated, lively tribute to operetta’s cultural significance and its great masters.
The production was created by the Cziffra Festival to mark the anniversary.
This concert is jointly presented by Filharmonia Hungary and the Cziffra Festival.
A joint concert of the Cziffra Festival and Filharmonia Hungary.
The Cziffra Festival is supported by Bethlen Gábor Alapkezelő Zrt. and the Hungarian Prime Minister’s Office.
