A Highlight of the Con Spirito Festival of Sacred Music
In June 2025, the Boys’ Choir of Westminster Cathedral toured Hungary with great success. Inspired by these uplifting experiences, Filharmónia Magyarország will once again crown the organ season ticket series in 2026 with a high-prestige boys’ choir concert.
Not far from Barcelona, in Catalonia, stands the Abbey of Montserrat, whose boys’ choir traces its origins back to the 13th century. Their lives are still shaped by the traditions of Benedictine schools and churches. In addition to vocal training, the boys also study instruments, and their academic requirements match the standards of the finest schools. Their teachers pay special attention to their moral and social development as well. While not all of them go on to become musicians, the path to a professional musical career remains open for those who wish to pursue it.
At the heart of the ensemble’s life is liturgical service, yet as a choir of exceptional quality, they regularly give concerts, undertake international tours, and make recordings. The choir’s permanent membership consists exclusively of children’s voices, but when the repertoire requires adult male parts, former members often return to join the ensemble.
In May 2026, they will travel several thousand kilometres to perform for Hungarian audiences.
