Gergely Ittzés

Ittzés Gergely 2Gergely Ittzés after graduating at the Budapest Liszt Academy of Music in 1993, received scholarships from the International Prague Mozart Academy and the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada. His most inspiring flute tutors have been István Matuz and Nicolet Auréle, and chamber music tutors György Kurtág and Ferenc Rados. He won several prizes at various national and international competitions including the Grand Prix of the 2nd Aleksander Tansman International Competition for Musical Personalities and the Franz Liszt Award in 2001. He is founding member of the UMZE Chamber Ensemble, and the TeTraVERSI flute quartet between 2003-2009. He is frequently invited to international flute festivals, regularly performs at concerts and leads master courses all over Europe, in China in North and South America. In 2017 he was guest lecturer at Boston University. He gave his debut concert at the Carnegie Hall in 2014. Mr. Ittzés has published 20 records. His most recent project includes the compilation of The Great Book of Flute Sonatas, Volumes 1-7 published by Hungaroton. Several composers have composed for Ittzés. Since 1996 Mr. Ittzés has been flute professor at the Széchenyi University in Győr. Since September 2017 he is also lecturing at the Arts Faculty of the University of Pécs. He is a versatile musician striving for perfection. His large musical repertoire includes several rarities from the baroque to the experimental periods and free improvisation styles.
