dubrovayLászló Dubrovay composer awarded with the Kossuth- and the Artist of the Nation Prizes, professor emeritus at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. Dubrovay studied composition at the Liszt Academy of Music, graduating in 1966 with distinction. 1966-71 he was tutoring at the University of Theatre and Film Arts (Budapest) under the guidance of Kálmán Nádasdy, in 1971-72 he was the répétiteur of the Staatsoper Hamburg. Dubrovay continued his studies on a DAAD scholarship in West Germany (1972-74): he took courses in composition with Karlheinz Stockhausen and in electronic music with Hans-Ulrich Rumpert. In 1975, he was commissioned by Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Cologne, to realise the electronic composition Sóhaj (Sigh) in the electronic studios of WDR. Between 1976 – 2011, he taught music theory at the Liszt Academy of Music. In 1994 he became member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts where he served as committee member of until 2017. His organ composition Délivrance in 1973 at Szczecin, Poland won first prize, Succession for orchestra received second prize in 1974 in Trieste. Also received prize in 1992 at the Ars electronic in Linz and won first prize in 1997 in Budapest for his electroacoustic composition. In 1985 was invited to West-Berlin on the DAAD Künstlerprogram scholarship. He realised electronic and computer music productions in the major studios of Europe. He delivered lectures in German and English all over the world, including Iceland, South-Korea and the US.

  • „Changes in musical language, progression in the overtone-system”
    (Syntax and components of musical language)
    The physical principles of the harmonic system in relation to overtones, next steps forward
  • New methods of instrumental techniques (strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion)
  • Electronic and computer music
  • Interpreting Bartók’s compositions (Microcosmos, Sonata)

During the course, beside the covering of the mentioned themes, the participants applied as composer will have the opportunity to consult with the course leader and the other participants about their own compositions.

All applications must be received or postmarked no later than 15th April 2019. The list of documents to be submitted with the application can be found under the relevant course descriptions.

The courses will start only if the number of active participants reaches a minimum of 6.
The course leaders reserve their rights for a pre-selection between the active applicants based on the materials they sent, the results will be announced until the 30th April 2019.
The active course fee includes free enty to the chosen course, lecture, concerts with advance registration and other events of the festival. The course fee needs to be payed in cash or credit card on the spot, reduced by the 50 EUR deposit.
